- ABOUT HOOPLA DIGITAL
Hoopla Digital is an online publisher network that represents third party websites in the sale of their advertising inventory and also buys and sells online advertising for and on behalf of third party websites, ad networks and agencies. Hoopla Digital specialises in online video, audio, display, performance and branded advertising solutions. We serve ads to millions of users each month on third party websites we represent. These ads may contain cookies, which are used to tailor and enhance your online experience.
- WHAT IS A COOKIE?
Cookies are small text files that are stored in the cookie file or “memory” of the web browser on your computer. They typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the “lifetime” of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or work in a better, more efficient way. Websites can read and write these cookie files, enabling them to recognise you and remember important information that will make your use of a website more convenient (e.g. by remembering your user preferences).
You can control these cookies via your browser setting but please note that this site and many other sites may not function smoothly if you delete them – see section 5 below.
- WHAT COOKIES DO WE USE?
Below we list the different types of cookies we may use. Sites within Hoopla Digital may also use their own cookies of this nature – please see the cookie policies on the relevant site to see what types of cookies are used.
Functionality Cookies. In some circumstances, we may use functionality cookies. Functionality cookies allow us to remember the choices you make on our Site and to provide enhanced and more personalised features, such as customising a certain webpage, remembering if we have asked you to participate in a promotion and for other services you request, like watching a video or commenting on a blog. All of these features help us to improve your visit to the Site.
Targeting or Advertising Cookies. We and our partners use cookies to track events related to the Hoopla Digital ad serving activity on our partner sites, such as the number of ads displayed to you and whether you interacted with those ads. This information helps us to limit the number of times you see the same ad and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. Unless our partner sites are targeted towards children 13 years and under we and our partners may also use targeting or advertising cookies to deliver ads that we believe are more relevant to you and your interests.
Where we do provide these interest-based targeted ads, we include an icon on the advert known as the AdChoices icon. This icon tells you that information used to infer your interests is being gathered or used to improve the adverts you see. If you click on this icon you will be able to learn more about how interest-based adverts are served to you and how you can control how you are presented with interest-based advertising. You can click here for more information.
- HOW DO THIRD PARTIES USE COOKIES?
We work with third parties to provide services on the partner sites we represent, such as serving advertisements. Third-party advertisers and other organisations may use their own cookies to collect information about your activities on the sites and/or the advertisements you have interacted with. They may use this information to limit the number of times you see the same ad and measure the effectiveness of their advertisements. Unless their advertisements and / or our partner sites are targeted towards children 13 years and under they may also use this information to serve advertisements that they believe are most likely to be of interest to you based on content you have viewed. We do not control these cookies and to disable or reject third-party cookies, please refer to the relevant third party’s website. You can also learn more about controlling cookies in section 5 below.
Publishing
Third party publisher sites within Hoopla Digital may use their own cookies or other technologies to collect information about the content of the sites you visit and/or the advertisements you have interacted with. This information may be used by them to tailor and enhance your online experience, including; serving advertisements which they believe are most likely to be of interest to you based on content you have viewed; limiting the number of times you see the same advert; and helping measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
We choose the third party publisher sites which form part of Hoopla Digital carefully and we strongly encourage them to use cookies responsibly and in accordance with data protection laws. However, we ultimately do not have access or control over the cookies used by our partner sites and we are not responsible for their activities. Use of such third party sites is subject to the relevant third party’s own privacy policy, and we encourage them to be as clear and transparent as possible over how cookies are used on their sites. We recommend that you review the privacy policy and cookie policy of each third party site carefully. In order to disable or reject third party cookies, you must go to the relevant third party’s site.
- HOW CAN YOU CONTROL COOKIES?
You may refuse to accept cookies from this Site or Hoopla Digital partners at any time by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse cookies. Further information about how to disable cookies can be found in the help section of your browser.
You may wish to refer to http://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/index.html for information on commonly used browsers. Please be aware that if cookies are disabled, not all features of the Site may operate as intended.
For more information about targeting and advertising cookies and how you can opt out, you can visit http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices or http://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2#!/
Opting out of third party targeting or advertising cookies does not necessarily mean that you will not see advertising on third party websites, only that this advertising will not be targeted to you through the use of third party cookies.
When you manage your data preferences in the ways described above a cookie will be set in your browser to remember your choices. As such these preferences are browser and device specific. If you clear your cookies or use a different web browser or new device you will need to repeat the process to ensure your preferences are adhered to on your new browser/device. If you decide not to accept cookies from a site, it is possible that in addition to not receiving personalised ads, some other functionalities and content on that site might not work.
